Description

The P90 submachine gun, some may classify it as a personal defense weapon or a PDW. Whatever it is supposed to classify under, we all know what it is, the fish-like shape, the futuristic, compact design, the top-mounted, phallic-looking magazine, the P90 is probably one of the most recognizable yet uncommon weapons there is out there. That being said, the P90 is no stranger to airsoft, Tokyo Marui made a few airsoft P90s and other airsoft companies have since copied Tokyo Marui and made their own P90 airsoft guns. So what makes this special? Just another variant from the original airsoft P90 makers?

The P90+ or P90 Plus from Tokyo Marui is a long-needed update from the original Tokyo Marui P90 electric airsoft gun that came out almost two decades ago, yeah, we first got it around the year 2002. The gun itself looks pretty much the same as the original P90 from years ago, but this one has a few major changes. First of all, the built quality, the original Tokyo Marui P90 airsoft gun is made mostly of ABS plastic, which isn't bad and all but it does have that annoying creaking noise when you pick it up and try to do operator things with it. The P90+ is made of higher-quality polymers for its receiver and has more metal parts, which similar to the real gun has a metal receiver and a polymer body. Sticking to the realism factor, this airsoft P90 also takes down in a similar matter to how the real one would: simply remove the magazine, push the tab under where the magazine would be, and push the receiver out.

Internally, Tokyo Marui has also given the P90+ an update, a FET more precisely. The FET installed in this airsoft P90 provides extra safety measures such as detecting damage, protecting the P90 airsoft gun from overcharged batteries, and most importantly the FET makes sure that the gears don't over-rotate during firing, allowing for consistent semi-auto firing. Tokyo Marui launched their new MS Lipo battery that is compatible and would work best with this airsoft P90. Don't worry if you don't have it, as a normal small Tamiya battery will fit too using the adaptor that came with the gun itself. It is recommended to use either an 8.4v NiCad battery or a 7.4v Li-Po battery

Externally, the P90+ has Picatinny rails on the top 3 O'clock and 9 O'clock positions allowing the attachment of accessories such as optics, lasers, and flashlights. The outer barrel of the Tokyo Mauri P90 Plus is also threaded 14mm CCW allowing you to mount different accessories such as tracers and muzzle devices.

About Tokyo Marui

Tokyo Marui Co. Ltd is an airsoft gun and toy cars manufacturer located in Adachi, Tokyo, Japan that produced the AEG. The guns are principally sold in Japan, but are also sold worldwide. They were the first company to produce airsoft guns powered solely by electric-motor driven air compressors, which they called "Automatic Electric Gun" (AEG) in 1992. This compact air compressing system was implemented in their first battery-powered automatic firing replica, the FAMAS F1. Other airsoft guns were then introduced. The AEG system is still in use, and has been copied numerous times through the years by many other airsoft gun manufacturers. Marui is among others the inventor of the AEG and the Hop-Up system.
